Description

Writers LIVE! Christian Cooper

Science and comics writer Christian Cooper, also an expert birder, will reflect on his life leading up to and following his interaction with a dog walker in Central Park in May 2020. Mr. Cooper’s video of the encounter went viral and contributed to the national conversation about race in America.

Christian Cooper is one of Marvel Comics first openly gay writers and editors. He created Marvel's first openly lesbian character, as well as the first gay male character in Star Trek, which was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award. Mr. Cooper is the author and creator of Queer Nation: The Online Gay Comic. He is also on the board of directors for NYC Audubon.
